Direction le 14e arrondissement de Paris, métro ligne 13, station Pernety… Tout à côté de la rue des Thermopyles, la Cité Bauer offre une balade dépaysante dans la capitale avec ses petites maisons de ville.
Longue de 129 mètres, cette petite rue commence au 36 de la rue Didot et se termine au 15 de la rue des Thermopyles en étant longée par le verdoyant square Alberto Giacometti.
La rue n’est pas aussi plantée que la rue des Thermopyles, mais par ci par là les plantes dépassent…
Et certains jardinets se laissent entrevoir…
Et vous ne pouvez pas manquer le surprenant portail du numéro 19 de la Cité Bauer…
Difficile de se croire dans Paris, non ?
Et pourtant si…
The 14th, unlike many other areas (where seeing and enjoying all the interesting features, landmarks and cool things is a little easier) is a superb arrondissement …you may have to do a little more looking but there are many great attractions…to name a few…at 24 rue Ceks, you’ll find the hotel where Debovoire and Satre hung out…there’s a plaque outside, then , walk a few meters and see the cemetery…there’s all manner of interesting people’s graves to see plus some cool stuff; a two meter high brightly colored cat tomb, a huge bird tomb, the grave of the Russian and a French world chess champion (whose name I can not pronounce)…aWWII resistance couple with abt 20 legion d’honneur awards…
After the cemetery you MUST see rue Daguerre….fabulous…then mosey across ave du Maine to Raymond Losserand to rue Thermopolye …a wonderfully charming road that takes you to hidden garden and then rue cite Bauer…take that to Giacometti’s old atelier…after that slide over to Villa Seraut and see both the hidden park…nearby….and the still functioning Henri Matisse atelier…
I need to go…but there’s tons in the area to see and do an eat…and ENJOY
